Drought continues to hit communities across the country

The problem of water shortages is worsening across South Africa as the drought persists and the heat wave lowers dam levels. Water levels in the Vaal Dam in Gauteng moved from 73 percent to 50 percent following last week's high temperatures. The Eastern Cape has been worst affected by the drought with the Free State and Limpopo also facing serious water shortages. Experts and the Department of Water Affairs and Sanitation have called on residents to use water sparingly and to report or fix leaking pipes and taps.
