Doodnath was shot dead on Saturday at the intersection of Jan Smuts Avenue and Upper Park Drive at Westcliff in Johannesburg. Gauteng police say the motive for the shooting is unknown and a case of murder is being investigated. Formerly from Durban, the 30-year-old was a research fellow at the Helen Suzman Foundation, a lecturer at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) and an activist against gender based violence.
