#PODCAST: Security guards cleared in DUT student shooting

SABC News and Current Affairs — By Newsbreak Producer Mfundo Mthembu - Two security guards, in connection with the death of a Durban University of Technology (DUT) student have been cleared on murder charges. The two security guards were under investigation following the shooting of Mlungisi Madonsela, a third-year business administration student from Jozini in north-eastern KwaZulu-Natal. The 20-year old Madonsela was killed during a student protest on February 5, outside the Open House building opposite the Steve Biko campus at DUT. It's understood that the National Prosecuting Authority has called on the murder charges to be withdrawn due to insufficient evidence. The University's Alan Khan says they cannot comment on the matter at this stage since they were not part of the investigations. Meanwhile the South African Students Congress (SASCO) Provincial Chairperson - Mqondisi Duma says they will knock on every door until justice is served...
