#PODCAST: Verulam NPO call for the history of Indian Indentured labourers to be included in school curriculums

SABC News and Current Affairs — By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - The history of the Indian Indentured labourers in South Africa could soon be included into the curriculum at schools in the country. This after the 1860 Indentured Labourers Foundation in Verulam had written to the Department of Basic Education requesting the inclusion into the school syllabus. The department has now appointed a Ministerial Task Team that will review the submission and revise the history curriculum accordingly from grades four to 12. Member of the foundation and convenor of the submission - Anand Jayrajh says the Indian Indentured labourers saved the economy of KwaZulu-Natal from bankruptcy during the 1860's and their contribution to the country must be preserved...
