#PODCAST: Gauteng Department of Transport to vet taxis operating on reopened Soweto routes

SABC News and Current Affairs — By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - Taxi ranks and routes at Soweto in Johannesburg which are operated by rival associations WATA and NANDUWE has been reopened. The two organisations were stopped from operating and their ranks closed in March this year following violent clashes between members which claimed the lives of three people. A peace deal was signed between the rival taxi associations in Soweto last Tuesday in which the groups pledged to end all hostilities. This morning the Gauteng Department of Transport began the process of vetting minibus taxis that will be operating on the now reopened Soweto ranks and routes.
