Zimbabweans and Namibians want nothing more than AFCON qualification – Rusike + Hotto
With the final round of AFCON qualifiers upon us this weekend, South Africa is not the only southern regional nation that finds itself in a do-or-die situation. Topping Group G with eight points, Zimbabwe, much like Bafana need just a draw when they host Congo Brazzaville at the National Stadium in Harare this Sunday. However, if Congo win, they will qualify jumping above Zimbabwe on the head-to-head rule. Breathing down the neighbors’ necks are Liberia and DRC Congo on second and third place with seven and six points respectively, followed by Congo with five points. Supersport United and Zimbabwean striker Evans Rusike is adamant ‘The Warriors” will be in Egpyt come June. Meanwhile Namibian international and Bidvest Wits striker Dean Hotto says it is now or never for his country as they lock horns with 2012 AFCON winners Zambia in Lusaka tomorrow. With Zambia bottom of Group K with four points and eliminated already, Namibia who are on second spot with eight points need at the very least a draw, or a win by group leaders Guinea-Bissau over Mozambique. Hotto is confident “The Brave Warriors’s bravery will see them make their third appearance at the continental showpiece in Egypt (having previously qualified in 1998 and 2000).
