Notoane confident that Tavares will choose SA over Croatia

Newly appointed South African national U23 head coach David Notoane has explained that Crystal Palace U23 captain Nikola Tavares was in the initial 28-man provisional squad he had announced last week but an administration error left him out. Born in Cape Town 20 years ago to Croatian parents, Tavares has been on the national team coaches’ radar for the past two years. When Notoane selected the provisional squad to play Angola in the CAF U23 Championships qualifiers next week, his name was not there. But yesterday, the former Santos striker explained that Tavares has always been part of his plans.
