29 Jan Sudanese Protests

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Monday extended ceasefires in two conflict-hit states, according to media reports, where protest leaders have pushed for anti-government rallies. There were no reports of rallies Monday in the three conflict-hit states, which have been devoid of demonstrations apart from a day of rallies in Darfur earlier this month. Protests in Sudan began last month after the government tripled the price of bread. The protestors have called for the resignation of Omar al-Bashir who has run the country for nearly 30 years but brought little improvement to his people.
