English French based players and Mostert not available to face England confirms Erasmus
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed that Willie le Roux, Francois Louw, Faf de Klerk and France based wing Cheslin Kolbe won’t be available to play in Saturday’s Test against England at Twickenham. Speaking from London, Erasmus said the fact that the match falls outside of the Test window obviously meant that the players would not be released by their clubs. Erasmus further revealed that he intentionally didn’t select Gloucester lock Franco Mostert after a protracted tug-of-war between the English club and the Golden Lions for Mostert’s services. Mostert has since moved to Gloucester and Erasmus says he wants to give the lock time to settle at his new club and that he has enough cover in the second row. Erasmus believes that playing England without some of his star players will give an opportunity for other players to show what they can do at international level. With the Springboks having already played against England in the June Incoming series, Erasmus says he learnt how dangerous the English can be with the variations in their game and their physicality.
