Solinas & Khune respond to Rulani Mokwena
As the hype builds-up to the sold-out Soweto Derby on Saturday afternoon at FNB stadium, the focus has now turned to Orlando Pirates assistant coach Rulani Mokwena’s comments on Monday that their Kaizer Chiefs bench is technically poor without it’s former coach Steve Komphela. Mokwena, a self-confessed protégé of Komphela, made these comments during the club’s media open day at Rand stadium. Yesterday at the Absa Premiership organized press conference at the PSL offices, Chiefs head coach Giovanni Solinas met the media for the first time and interestingly he feels that the media could be blowing this out of proportion. He appeared to be irritated when he was asked by journalists about Mokwena’s comments and he also doesn’t believe that this will affect his players ahead of Saturday’s game. Chiefs captain and number one goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has dismissed as mind games the statements made by Mokwena.
