Bolwetse ba Legionnaires le Dr. Ruth Lekalakala – Microbiologist

By now we all know the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle at all times, healthy diet, lots of water and regular exercises. This is important as it ensures one gets to live much longer healthily and avoid unnecessary chronic illnesses.
Unfortunately much as we may do that, we slightly there and there not take note of possible infections from bacteria’s. The bacteria’s cause various infections and viruses like a rare but dangerous Legionnaires disease, a severe form of pneumonia/lung inflammation usually caused by infection. Legionnaires' disease is caused by a bacterium known as legionella.
The legionnaires' disease can’t be contracted from person-to-person contact. Instead, most people get legionnaires' disease from inhaling the bacteria. Older adults, smokers and people with weakened immune systems are particularly susceptible to legionnaires' disease.
