The department of basic education in South Africa has been faced with and battling the on-going challenge of teenage pregnancies at schools. Almost every high school in South Africa does record a case of having a learner who falls pregnant during the course of the academic calendar. This does however affect negatively the learners as they will have to take time off from school to raise the child.
In the past few weeks there were report of a secondary school in Lipopo that had reported the case of more than 20 learners who are currently pregnant.
This is a matter of concern to the nation as a whole because this does not only affect the pregnant learners, but other learners in the same school premises do get affected somehow.
