The Committee to Protect Journalists expresses concern in Tanzania

The Committee to Protect Journalists and other civil society groups have written to the UN Human Rights Council urging them to address the deteriorating situation for human rights, including press freedom, in Tanzania during the upcoming 39th session of the council in September. Since 2015, journalists and bloggers in Tanzania have been targeted with harsh legislation by government. CPJ has also spoken against Ugandan security personnel arresting and assaulting journalists covering electoral unrest.
