Carbon Emmissions

South Africa will need political will to be able to meet Copenhagen's 2009 pledge to reduce the country's carbon emissions by 34 percent by the year 2020. This is according to Dr Chris Ettmayr, Renewable Energy manager at East London's Industrial Development Zone, in the Eastern Cape province. South Africa last year unveiled proposals which enables companies to offset as much as 10 percent of their carbon emissions by investing in projects that help conserve the environment and create jobs. Ettmayr talks about the scope of the South African renewable energy strategy.
