Thulisile Phongolo

Actress and DJ, Thulisile Phongolo
Thulisile Phongolo is a South African actress best known for her portrayal
of Namhla Diale on SABC 1’s flagship soap opera, Generations. She began
her acting career when she landed the role of Zama on the third season
of the SABC 1 drama series, “Tshisa”.
Thulisile Phongolo was born 22 January 1994 in Soweto, Johannesburg in
the Gauteng province of South Africa.
She is one of three children and the oldest among her siblings. She has a
little brother and a little sister.
Thulisile Phongolo attended Allen Glen High School at Allen’s Nek in
Roodepoort, Johannesburg. She later studied Strategic Marketing
Communications at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
She began her acting career in 2012 when she portrayed the character of
Zama on the SABC 1 drama series Tshisa.
In 2013 she joined the youth block programme, Craz-e, when she
hosted and presented various shows alongside Zola Hashatsi, Kriya
Gangiah, Stephanie Sandows among other.
In late 2014 Thuli Phongolo became part of the new look Generations;


this after the 16 principal cast members of that show were fired in the
wake of the salary dispute which reached an impasse. She was cast as
Namhla Diale, a 17 year old high school learner and daughter of ex-
convict Lucy Diale (portrayed by Manaka Ranaka).
