Press ombudsman and veteran newsman, Joe Thloloe retires at the age of 75. He is the outgoing executive director of the Press Council. Thloloe worked as the managing editor of the Sowetan, when it was the largest South African daily, before joining SABC TV news, as editor-in-chief, after 1994. He was a founder member of the Union of Black Journalists and MWASA. He was also the first Executive Director of the South African National Editors Forum (SANEF) and served two terms as chairperson.
