30 Nov SACP decided to contest #Metsimaholo by election in October, long before former minister Nzimande was dismissed - SACP

Metsimaholo Municipality, in northern Free State, held its by-election on Wednesday. Metsimaholo has had to re-elect a council leadership after it was dissolved following the collapse of a coalition-led government earlier this year, as a result of infighting among the political parties in the coalition. In the 2016 municipal elections, the ANC won 19 seats, the DA 12, the EFF 8; civic organisation Metsimaholo Community Association got 2, and the FF Plus got one. They are now all contesting for 21 wards and 21 Proportional Representative seats. This is also the first time the SACP has contested elections independently. On the Forum@8 Sakina Kamwendo focuses on the pending outcome of the Metsimaholo Municipality by-elections with ANC Spokesperson in the Free State, Thabo Meeko; 2nd Deputy Provincial Secretary of SACP, Mojalefa Simango; EFF Provincial Chaiperson, Kgotso Morapelo and DA provincial leader in the Free State, Patricia Kopane
