23 Nov UN Secretary-General ❝ shocked and dismayed ❞ at video footage showing migrants being sold into slavery in Libya

UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres has expressed shock and dismay following the emergence of a video footage, which showed migrants being sold as slaves in Libya. The footage of a live auction aired by CNN, appeared to show black men being presented to North African buyers as potential farmhands. The images triggered outrage from African leaders, who have called for an inquiry. The UN Secretary-General has since called for those auctions to be investigated as possible crimes against humanity. He has mobilized the UN high commission for human rights, the UN office for drugs and crime, and the International Organization for Migration, to take action.
