Draft Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill under the spotlight

South African parents have until November 10 2017 to comment on the Draft Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill. Published in the Government Gazette earlier in October, the draft bill seeks among others, to increase the penalty from six months to six years imprisonment, for parents who prevent their children from attending school.
