10 Oct Allegations of corruption mount as millions are spent on unfinished uMzimkhulu Memorial Hall

On the Forum@8 this morning we put the spotlight on a story that has been brought to our attention by a man called Thabiso Zulu. He is a former ANC regional secretary and friend of the late Sindiso Magaqa. UMzimkhulu Municipality in the Harry Gwala District of KwaZulu-Natal has been embroiled in allegations of corruption and mismanagement of public funds. The allegations relate to upgrades to the uMzimkhulu Memorial Hall. Zulu says three companies were paid more than 20-million-rand before any services were rendered. Meanwhile, Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has announced that her office is investigating the corruption allegations relating to the upgrades and the outcomes will be released in December.
