Community leaders and residents of the Marikana informal settlement in Philippi in Cape Town, say they have lost faith in the police. This follows two shootings in the area last week, which left 18 people dead. It is alleged that the shooting was a revenge attack carried out by gangsters. Community members say people are dying in large numbers, and they are calling for local police to help fight high levels of crime in the area.
