2 Oct SASSA misses yet another deadline for Post Office grants contract

The social security agency SASSA has missed another deadline, to enter into a service agreement with the Post Office for the payment of social grants. This is the third delay of the formal contract that would see SASSA phase out its current grants disperse, Cash Paymaster Services. The South African Post Office had said it needed to be contracted at least in time this past month of September already, so that it could put in place the necessary systems. But this has not happened. There are fears that South Africans might find themselves in a situation in which no company will be able to provide the service.
