The Forum@8, 9 Aug President Jacob Zuma survives eighth vote of no confidence

President Jacob Zuma has held on to his position after opposition parties failed to garner the 201 votes required to remove him through a motion of no-confidence. Opposition parties had hoped that voting in secret would embolden disgruntled ANC members unhappy with the President. In the end opposition parties managed 177 votes while the ANC got 198 votes.
