A miracle of sorts - a young South African girl who was born HIV positive and taken off ARV medication after a while, has seen the virus in remission for the past 9 years, the first child in Africa, and only one of three such cases in the world. Head of Pediatric Research at the Perinatal HIV Research Unit in Johannesburg, Dr Avy Violari discusses the case as well as it's importance to the broader medical community.
