21 Apr The return of Simon Magakwe
In 2013 he was the first South African sprinter to dip under 10 seconds as he won his record sixth 100m national title in 9.98 seconds that year. Simon Magakwe made a return this afternoon to competitive athletics as he won his fifth heat in 10.40 seconds at the SA Senior Championships at McArthur stadium in Potchefstroom. In December 2013, the 30year-old was banned for two years after he refused a mandatory out of competition doping test by the IAAF. As he prepares to line-up in the semi-final and the final later today, Magakwe tells SABC Sport journalist Velile Mbuli that he nearly turned a professional footballer few months ago.
