4 Oct CITES focus - Legal hunters want to play a role in conservation

by Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - Three major hunting organisations in South Africa have joined forces outlining the positive role that responsible hunting has in conservation, food security and socio-economic development. This during the 17thConference of Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES COP17) currently taking place at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg. In their collaborative presentation, the Confederation of Hunting Associations of South Africa (CHASA), Professional Hunters Association of South Africa (PHASA) and the South African Hunters and Game Conservation Association (SA Hunters) said hunting is not in conflict with conservation principles.
