Is the Low Carb High Fat diet for everyone? That is the question Francois Nel asks Prof Tim Noakes today. Francois also wanted to know if it is only for people who are struggling with diabetes or for people who want to lose weight.Professor Tim Noakes: I have said from the start that the Low Carb High Fat diet is for everyone who is insulin resistant i.e. pre-diabetic, diabetic or obese. The Low Carb High Fat diet is the only diet that has a long term beneficial outcome for them.  If you are insulin resistant it means that you metabolise carbohydrates very poorly so you need reduce or eliminate carbohydrates from the diet. It turns out however, that this diet, the Low Carb High Fat High Protein diet, in my opinion, is much more nutritious than the diet that most of us are eating or were eating. Read More
