Calls for the country's school infrastructure to be declared a national crisis

The Independent Institute of Education or IIE, is calling for South Africa's current school infrastructure to be declared a national crisis. The Institute says, the disruptions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be detrimental to a child's long term educational career. Experts in the field say pupils worst affected by school closures and rotational learning, are those in overcrowded classrooms with no access to basic services and educational resources.
