#PODCAST - #DUT schedules online classes as five campuses remain closed

By Newsbreak Producer, Shanell Daniel - The Durban University of Technology (DUT) has confirmed that all five of its Durban campuses will remain closed until further notice. The deadline for online registration for first time applicants and returning students has been extended to Friday, 16 April 2021. Last week the institute temporarily shutdown the campuses when chaos ensued after false social media posts allowing walk-in registrations went viral. Sixteen students were arrested for public violence, illegal gathering and the contravention of the disaster management act. Prior to this, almost 500 people invaded the sports centre on the Steve Biko campus, waiting to register as first year students. Senior Director of Corporate Affairs at DUT, Alan Khan
