GORMLEY - DONNA HARPAUER - APRIL 7

Saskatchewan released its budget Tuesday, and the province will be running a deficit of $2.6 billion, with plans to get back balance by the 2026/27 fiscal year. The large deficit was largely due to COVID-19 spending, and Finance Minister Donna Harpauer said the pandemic came as "the largest shock to the Saskatchewan, Canadian, and world economies of any event since the Second World War." Harpauer joins Gormley to go over details of the budget, and what needs to happen to bring the provincial coffers back into balance.
