
Christian Action for Dependence (CAD) — Emma Gibbons (Masters in Social Work Addiction Counselling)
CAD is an organisation that provides aftercare services for individuals and families affected by drug and/or alcohol dependency. CAD episodes will conclude of topics related to relapse prevention and sobriety. These topics will include the following:
- Anger management.
- Employment.
- Forgiveness.
- Addiction.
- Tough Love.
- Cravings and Triggers.
- Friends
- Boredom and Loneliness.
- Sex.
Objectives
The relationship between the chief- and the incidental aims of the CAD are based on the Christian ethos, values and way of life, namely:
o Sobriety: ensure that recovering substance dependants refrain from the use of dependence-producing substances;
o Treatment: identify beneficiaries for treatment;
o Support: supporting recovering substance dependants by aftercare and reintegration into the community;
o Growth: provide therapeutic growth to recovering substance dependants and their co-dependants, and
o Resistance: promote resistance to substance dependence.
