Border Crossings: Kat & Alex

Kat & Alex competed individually on American Idol in 2020, giving viewers their first taste of the couple’s unique Country-Latin sound. They released their debut single, “How Many Times” in the fall of 2020.  Last month, they released two new songs “Heartbreak Tour” which is extremely special to them because it’s one of the first songs they wrote together and “You and the Radio” which offers an upbeat sound with rowdy guitars with anthemic chorus.

Border Crossings: Shaed

Shaed is an American Indie Pop  trio based in Washington, DC.  The group consists of lead vocalist Chelsea Lee and multi-instrumentalists twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst. They released their breakthrough single “Trampoline” in June 2018.  Their debut Album, “High Dive” is due out in May.

Border Crossings: AJ Mitchell

Pop artist, AJ Mitchell has recently released a new single “Cameras On.”  The song, AJ explains, is about the beginning of his career when he first arrived in Los Angeles to chase his dreams, and a toxic situation he found himself in while a member of the content collective Team 10 that “Once the cameras turned on, the dynamic changed. Everyone was all of a sudden like, ‘Oh, I love you’. When the cameras shut off, nobody talked to one another. Everybody was staring at a phone. I was young, so it was weird for me to understand. The only thing that saved me was music. Once again, it took me away—just like it did back in my hometown of Belleville, IL.” His debut album “Skyview” is scheduled to be released later this year.

Border Crossings: Paul Stookey

Noel Paul Stookey has enjoyed an extraordinary career that began as the “Paul” of the seminal 1960s folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary.  Their signature vocal harmonies and songs like “Blowin’ In the Wind,” “If I Had a Hammer” and “Puff the Magic Dragon” were the soundtrack of a generation. In March, he released his last EP, “Just Causes,” a carefully curated compilation of 15 Stookey tracks, each bearing a theme of social concern, from hunger to nuclear proliferation, drug trafficking and the environment.
