• Lawyers operating in the South African tech and entrepreneurial market have been negatively impacted by delays and uncertainty. Attorneys need finance to get them through this period and Taurus Capital has R300 million available to support them. To hear more, we spoke to Elad Smadja the Chief Executive Officer at Taurus Capital.

• Following the recent news that Government has lifted restrictions on eCommerce, allowing e-tailers to sell everything except alcohol and cigarettes, South Africans are no longer limited in terms of the products that they would like to buy online, with immediate effect. Laurian Venter, director at leading South African e-tailer OneDayOnly.co.za says that the news of regulations being lifted was music to not only e-tailers’ ears, but also the industries that eCommerce supports.

• Cape Town has once again ranked as the top city for hosting international association meetings in Africa, according to the 2019 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Statistics Report. We spoke to Corne Koch Head of Convention Bureau at Wesgro.

• Between June to August 2020, IBM and Tshimologong in South Africa, will be running the TechAccel accelerator programme aimed at black entrepreneurs who are running existing tech Startups and new innovative ventures that focus on new tech like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Blockchain, Internet of Things and Cybersecurity. We spoke to Khwezi Cenenda from Tshimologong.

• Dgital banking platform provider for SMMEs, uKheshe, has been selected to join Mastercard Start Path, an engagement programme for later-stage scaling start-ups. For more on this, we spoke to Clayton Hayward the cofounder and CEO of Ukheshe.
