The party has crossed its own Rubicon and raised the VAT from 14% to 15%. A line that many thought would never move as it hits the poor and the rich alike. The announcement of free education, the performance of SARS and the economy and the necessity to keep debt under control made the choices quite difficult to recoup that kind of money.
