CPFs in Cape Town criticise plans to decrease police force

Community policing forums (CPFs) in Cape Town have criticised government's plan to decrease the number of police officers. The South African Police Services (SAPS)'s annual performance plan, released earlier this year, shows the intent to gradually decrease officer numbers. Although it has been tabled in Parliament, the plan has not yet been implemented. The plan aims to cut 1,000 police officers in the 2018/2019 financial year.
