Edward Said was born November 1, 1935 in Jerusalem and died September 25, 2003 in New York U.S.) He was Palestinian American academic, political activist, and literary critic who examined literature in light of social and cultural politics and was an outspoken proponent of the political rights of the Palestinian people and the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
Hamid Dabashi is an Iranian-American Professor of Iranian Studies and Comparative literature at Columbia Universty in New York. He is the author of over twenty books , among them, Theology of Discontent and volume analysis of Iranian history. He is the founding member of institute for comparative literature as well as founding member for Center for Palestine studies at Columbia University.
