South Africa is part of an African Union committee going to address the United Nations Security Council on the AU position on the International Criminal Court. That position includes postponing/ cancelling the ICC cases against incumbent African leaders and putting forward the roadmap for African states to withdraw from the ICC. But there are the legal and political reasons as to why South Africa should remain within the International Criminal Court to stem global impunity and to alter power relations with respect to peace and security issues within the United Nations.
